Winter Dreams

Winter Dreams begins with a young caddy named Dexter Green who wishes he were a fantastic golfer and instead of the one who is serving to be served.  As he grows up he falls head over heels for an atractive woman who he use to caddy for named Judy Jones.  Everything seemed great until Miss Jones drives off with another man one day.  Deeply saddened by his loss, Dexter quickly gets engaged with another woman to get Judy Jones out of his mind.  When he does, Judy comes back and almost ruins everything.  Later on, He encounters a man who had eventually married Judy Jones.  He tells of how she let herself go and is not as near as attractive.  Dexter now feels better and is now able to get on with his life.

My take on the story is very simple.  Judy Jones was a manipulator that used her beauty to get what she wanted, even if that meant destroying thier lives.  Dexter was just one of the many puppets she used because she didn’t really know what she wanted.  Overall, I think that Dexter was played majorly by Judy Jones.

Mt. Everest

I was interested by the film.  I saw a documentary on Rob Hall’s fatal expedition to Mt. Everest on the Discovery Channel.  The man was quite foolish and should have thought with his head and not his heart when making the desicion to continue towards the summit.  With his expirience, he should have known better.  At the same time I pity him because he will never see his wife, who was seven months pregnant, again or set eyes on his unborn child.  I can’t imagine what it was like to come across your best friend frozen in the snow, wishing that you could pick them up and carry them down to safety, or at least talk to them one last time.  I’m not sure what I would do if I was stranded in sub freezing weather on Mt. Everest.  I can’t imagine the cold, not being able to feel your limbs after a matter of seconds, stumbling blindly through the snow trying to save your life.  It would be suprising to see a man you left for dead comes back to camp, near death.  I don’t think I could ever face the enigma that is Mt. Everest.
